2024 Spring Meet Bemidji, Minnesota May 31 - June 1 Host: Bob Rutledge 218-209-9979 Ruttger’s Birchmont Lodge Lake Bemidji ITINERARY Friday May 31 Driving tour of 25 miles to Itasca State Park to visit the headwaters of the Mississippi River and historic Douglas Lodge. Small per car fee required. Lunch on your own and hospitality room will be open. Saturday June 1 Open for members to explore on their own the Bemidji downtown area. They can visit Bemidji Downtown Sculpture Walk, or head to Morell’s Chippewa Trading Post, which specializes in beaded butterflies, porcupine-quill-and-birchbark decor and other indigenous Ojibwe crafts. Regionally inspired paintings, jewelry, pottery and more can be found at the Miikanan Gallery, which is dedicated to indigenous art and part of the newly expanded Watermark Art Center. Made-in-Bemidji wool blankets, shirts, coats and warm outdoor gear can be found at the almost 100-year-old Bemidji Woolen Mills which also sells socks, felted footwear, knits, hats and Paul Bunyan souvenirs. Hospitality room will be opened for those who want to rest and visit. Banquet 4 PM in the lodge dining room. |
